A total of 23 new homes are to be constructed in Bayston Hill, Shrewsbury by county homebuilder Cornovii Developments Limited.

Cornovii Developments Limited will also pay a Section 106 contribution of £75,000 to improve sports facilities in the village, and will create two areas of open public space and two affordable homes under the agreement.

Shropshire Council’s Northern Planning Committee approved the application for the development, which will be constructed on the former Oakland Primary School site. The school site closed in 2009 following a merger with Longmeadow Primary School.

Shropshire Council, working in partnership with One Public Estate, has secured £334,500 from the Government’s Brownfield Release Fund to develop the site, which is classed as brownfield.
