Hop on the wellbeing bus for Mental Health Awareness Week
As part of Mental Health Awareness Week (May 11- 17), the Shropshire Mental Health Support (MHS) Wellbeing Bus will be at Frankwell Car Park, outside the Guildhall Reception, in Shrewsbury, on Friday 15 May 2026.
The Wellbeing Bus provides a welcoming and confidential space where people can drop in for free emotional wellbeing support and advice, whether they are concerned about their own mental health or are supporting someone else. The service offers a safe, non‑judgemental environment to talk openly about emotional wellbeing.
On the day, staff and volunteers from Shropshire Mental Health Support and Samaritans will be present to offer listening support, practical guidance and signposting to local and national services. The drop‑in is open to anyone, and no appointment or referral is required.
Cllr Bernie Bentick, portfolio holder for public health said:
‘As a councillor representing the people of Shropshire, and as Portfolio Holder for Public Health, I am deeply committed to championing good mental health and wellbeing for everyone who lives and works in our county.
Mental Health Awareness Week 11–17 May 2026 is an important opportunity to come together, speak openly, and take positive Action for mental health, free from judgement and stigma. In recent years, we have all seen how vital it is to care for our mental health and emotional resilience, just as we do our physical health.
The pressures faced by our communities whether personal challenges, financial worries, or the wider impact of national and global events remind us that good mental health is not a luxury. It is essential for individuals, families, and for a thriving Shropshire.’
