Ellesmere Ducklings benefit from LJC funding
Ellesmere Ducklings have completed a project to extend and improve their sensory stimulation area following the success of their sensory bubble tube in December 2011.
The group received a grant of £500 from Ellesmere Local Joint Committee (LJC) and have raised a further £590 at an Olympic Sports week to complete the project so that it was ready for the current school term.
Karen Humphreys, manager of the Ducklings, said:
“We initially looked at the sensory area to support some of the 52 children on our books who have special needs and enjoy the range of stimulation that the equipment offers. Since getting the sensory bubble, we realised that all of our children benefit from tactile and sensory stimulation. Having support from the LJC really helped us move forward with the project.”
Ann Hartley, local Shropshire Councillor for Ellesmere, who visited the project at the beginning of term, said:-
“I am amazed with how the children all get different benefit from the new tactile panels that the LJC helped to fund. TheEllesmere Ducklings is such an important facility in the town which supports our children in their first journey to education. The Ellesmere LJC are delighted that a small grant has made such a big difference to this group.”
