Consultation into Neighbourhood Plan for The Strettons parish area

Related topics: Community / Planning

Shropshire Council has begun a consultation into a Neighbourhood Plan for The Strettons parish area on behalf of Church Stretton Town Council. The consultation runs until 27 November [2026].

Church Stretton Town Council started work on a Neighbourhood Plan for The Strettons Parish area in early 2023.  The preparation of the Plan has been led by a local steering group, which includes representatives from the town council and the wider community.

In February 2026, the town council carried out local public consultation into draft proposals – known as the ‘Regulation 14 stage’. Following this, in September 2026, the town council formally submitted the draft Plan to Shropshire Council.

Whilst the draft Neighbourhood Plan has been prepared by Church Stretton Town Council, under national regulations it is now the responsibility of Shropshire Council to undertake a further public consultation into the draft Plan – this is known as the ‘Regulation 16 stage’.

Following the conclusion of the Regulation 16 consultation, Shropshire Council will arrange for the draft Plan to be examined by an independent person. If the Plan passes this examination, it will proceed to a local referendum, before being approved by Shropshire Council.
