Another good year for Shropshire schools, shown by latest school performance tables

Congratulations to Shropshire’s GCSE students and their teachers as new figures show that 2018 was another good year for GCSE results.

The GCSE league tables published today (24 January 2019) show schools’ key performance measures, including what students have achieved across eight key subjects, which include many reformed and more challenging GCSEs.

The results indicate that the six schools with the highest average attainment 8 score per pupil are: The Priory School, a Business and Enterprise College, The Corbet School Technology College, The Community College, Bishop’s Castle, The Mary Webb School and Science College, Meole Brace School Science College, and Oldbury Wells School.

The six schools that had the highest progress 8 average score per pupil are: The Corbet School Technology College, Sir John Talbot’s Technology College, The Community College, Bishop’s Castle, The Priory School, a Business and Enterprise College, The Mary Webb School and Science College and William Brookes School.

Nick Bardsley, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for children and young people, said:

“These results are indicative of the determination and effort of our students during their studies and we congratulate them on their achievements.

“It is also important to recognise the support that our school communities in Shropshire have given to the students. This includes our highly professional and dedicated teachers and headteachers, school governors, support staff, volunteers and, of course, parents and carers whose support is so vital to students’ success.”
