Resurfacing and rock face repairs to take place in Bridgnorth

Resurfacing and rock face work will be taking place in Bridgnorth from 14 September to 2 October [2026]

Resurfacing will be carried out on Underhill Street and Hollybush Road, with resurfacing and rock face work on New Road and West Castle Street.

The work will take place in three phases, as follows:

Phase 1 – resurfacing, and rock face work

14 to 18 September – 9.30am to 4pm
Resurfacing of Underhill Street, from Low Town Bridge to the B4363 junction

14 to 18 September (24 hour closure)
Rock face work on New Road & West Castle Street

  • Access to Oldbury Wells School will be maintained from the north via Pound Street.
  • Two-way temporary traffic lights will be in operation at the B4373 junction and Oldbury Road to manage traffic movements.

Phase 2 – resurfacing work

21 to 25 September – 9.30am to 4pm

Resurfacing of Hollybush Road from B4364 junction to Oldbury Wells School junction

  • Access to Oldbury Wells School will be maintained from the north via Pound Street.
  • Temporary traffic lights will be in operation at the B4363/Oldbury Road junction and B4373/Oldbury Wells junction to manage traffic movements.

Phase 3 – resurfacing work

28 September to 2 October – 9.30am to 4pm

Resurfacing of Hollybush Road from Oldbury Wells School junction to Pound Street/Listley Street roundabout.

  • Access to Oldbury Wells School will be maintained from the south via Underhill Street.
  • Two-way temporary traffic lights will be in operation at the B4373/Oldbury Wells junction to manage traffic movements.

During the work times a full road closure will be in place and access to the work areas will be limited to the following:

  • Residents living within the closure, when safe to do so.
  • Any businesses located within the closure, when safe.
  • Pedestrians, dismounted cyclists and equestrians.
  • Emergency vehicles (blue light calls).

For all other traffic a signed diversion will be place. Depending on their vehicle type, road users may be able to choose an alternative diversion route.

People are asked to ensure vehicles are not parked on the road whilst the work is in progress.

Work will be carried out by Kier Infrastructure on behalf of Shropshire Council.

This year more than 90 stretches of road across Shropshire are being resurfaced by Shropshire Council, and more than 70 have been surface dressed.
