Free talk about Shropshire flying ace

A talk presented by University Centre Shrewsbury on Wednesday 25 January 2017 will explore the life of the country’s most successful Battle of Britain pilot, a Shropshire native who was born in Bayston Hill.

Eric Lock entered the RAF as a volunteer and earned his wings in 1940, and he went on to shoot down more enemy planes than any other pilot during the Battle of Britain.

The talk will be given by Mike Bradbury, a relative of Eric Lock who was born into a farming family just south of Shrewsbury and entered the RAF at 18. He later joined the Royal Observer Corps, over the next four years gaining promotion to become Chief Observer.
