LEGO® enthusiast Warren Elsmore will be staging his touring exhibition ‘Brick City – the World’s most iconic buildings and landmarks in LEGO®’, at Shrewsbury Museum & Art Gallery from 14 September to 11 October 2015.

Featuring over 70 LEGO® models the exhibition will appeal to all ages whilst teaching creativity, expression and an appreciation of architecture and the iconic images that make up cities around the World.

Elsmore’s LEGO® models do not resemble those wacky and wonderful creations you constructed as a child. A master of his medium, his fabulously detailed models may contain thousands of pieces – or perhaps just a handful. Either way, using just LEGO® bricks, Warren may create a model indistinguishable from the real thing or evoke the spirit of a building in just a few small pieces.

On display for just one month until 11 October, the list of incredible models includes Buckingham Palace, St. Pancras station (pictured above) and the London Olympic Park (pictured below), as well as scenes from Paris, Berlin, USA, Brazil and many more.

Visitors to the exhibition, which is suitable for all ages, will have the opportunity to go up to the Museum’s balcony and help build a new model from LEGO® pieces.

Tina Woodward, Shropshire Council’s deputy Cabinet member responsible for museums, said:

“Everyone at Shrewsbury Museum & Art Gallery is delighted that we will be hosting Warren Elsmore’s phenomenal Brick City. To many, LEGO® is simply regarded as a ‘child’s toy’. But to enthusiasts like Warren, LEGO® has provided a challenging and enjoyable modelling medium.

“The exhibition has already caused a big buzz on our social media accounts with many of our visitors telling us how excited they are and can’t wait to visit ‘Brick City’.”

The Museum’s Activities and Learning Team has devised a special programme of educational activities for schools and youth groups.
