Book-lovers of Shropshire are being encouraged to come and meet the award-winning author, Kate Long, at Whitchurch Library on 16 July 2013 at 2pm.  Kate will be talking about and reading from her new novel ‘Bad Mothers United’, a story about Charlotte, Karen and Nan who are struggling with motherhood. The book has received high praise from reviewers; The Guardian describes the book as being ‘extremely enjoyable, funny, perceptive and cleverly told’ and the Sun says it is ‘gritty, uplifting and life-affirming – don’t miss’

Kate’s first novel, The Bad Mothers’ Handbook, was published to great critical acclaim in 2004 and after being nominated for a British Book Award, went on to become an ITV dramatization starring Catherine Tate, Anne Reid and Robert Pattinson.

Kate lives in Whitchurch with her husband and two sons.

Gwilym Butler, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for leisure, libraries and culture, said:

“Our libraries are a real asset to the community and this event showcases the diversity of services they can provide. The library is a vibrant community hub, providing information, one-off events, and of course, books on an infinite number of topics. I would encourage people to pop in and meet Kate Long, and get to know their local library.”
