Spring Ramble in the Severn Valley

Shropshire Council’s Severn Valley Country Park is inviting people to join the ranger service on a walk through the Severn Valley on Sunday 21 April 2013.

The walk will be an ideal opportunity to see the sights and sounds of spring in bloom in the heart of the beautiful Shropshire countryside.  Anyone interested in joining the rangers must book their place via 01746 781192

The walk is a six-mile route through picturesque woodlands, meadows and river valleys looking for the first signs of spring.  The blooming of wildflowers, such as primrose, Wild Garlic and Dogs Mercury, can be spotted along the route.  You can keep a look out for the springtime return of British wildlife, including the humble bumble bee.

Ed Andrews, Shropshire Council’s parks and countryside sites officer, will be leading the walk, and encouraged as many people as possible to join him:

“Come and see the first signs of spring with us along the River Severn and adjoining woodlands.  Afterwards, you are more than welcome to stay a while in our tea room for a well-earned cup of tea and a slice of homemade cake.”

The walk is £3 per adult and £1.50 per child.  Everyone is welcome to join the rangers on this scenic jaunt, and if you wish to take part remember to call Severn Valley Country Park to book your place on 01746 781192

Walkers are meeting at the visitor centre at Alveley (WV15 6NG) at 10am.  The walk will return to the centre by 2pm.

The visitor centre is open Wednesdays to Sundasy from 11am to 4pm, and every day during school holidays.
