Santa to stop in St Martins as Grotto Games returns

Children and young people in and around St Martins will have the opportunity to tell Santa their last minute Christmas wishes as Grotto Games comes to town.

Following the successes of the previous Grotto Games, Shropshire Council is repeating the event this year which is, for the first time, being held at Rhyn Park Sports Hall (at St Martins School) on Tuesday 18 December 2012 at 4pm-6pm.

A variety of games, crafts and fun activities will be on offer for children aged 4–13 years.  There will also be an opportunity for each child to visit Santa for a special pre-Christmas gift.

Steve Charmley, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for active and healthy lifestyles, encourages children and their families to come along and join in the fun:

“Grotto Games has proved a popular and successful event over the last few years.  This year it is the turn of St Martins residents to join in the festive fun.  Grotto Games gives a flavour of the kind of activities offered year round by our leisure services, with the aim of involving children and young people in healthy physical activity and play.  The festive twist gives it that fun, magical element to entice children and their families to find out what is on offer.”

With special thanks to the Charlotte Hartey Foundation, and Gobowen, Selattyn, St Martins and Weston Rhyn Local Joint Committee (LJC), entry to the event is charged at £2 per child, with accompanying adults going free.   Tickets must be pre-booked by Wednesday 12 December 2012, and will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
