Playday is a celebration of children’s right to play, and a campaign that highlights the importance of play in children’s lives.  This year’s campaign is asking children to ‘get out’ and play!

Play Week starts on Monday 30 July 2012 and play sessions will be held at the following venues:

  • Monday 30 July – Craven Arms Community Centre – 11am until 3pm
  • Tuesday 31 July – Crown Meadow Playing Field, Bridgnorth – 11am until 3pm
  • Wednesday 1 August – Gobowen Playing Field – 1pm until 3.30pm
  • Thursday 2 August – Rocke Street Recreation Ground, Belle Vue, Shrewsbury – 11am until 3pm
  • Friday 3 August – Fairfields Playing Field, Market Drayton – 11am until 3pm

Play Week is open to children of all ages and their families and it’s free to attend.  No pre-booking is necessary so people can just turn up and play.   Activities will include face painting, arts and crafts, sports, games and much more.

Steve Charmley, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member responsible for active and healthy lifestyles, said:

“There is plenty going on to keep your children entertained over the summer.  These play sessions offer the perfect excuse to get outside and play.”

The council are also holding rollerskating sessions across the county at the following places:

  • Tuesday 14 August – Craven Arms Community Centre – 10am until 12pm
  • Thursday 16 August – Whitchurch Market Hall – 10am until 12pm
  • Friday, 17th August – Grange Sports Centre, Shrewsbury – 10am until 12pm
