Danesford Grange Care Home, Bridgnorth

Shropshire Council is aware of the Care Quality Commission’s (CQC) recent publication regarding Danesford Grange Care Home in Bridgnorth following an inspection undertaken in June 2026.

The council recognises that the findings contained within the report will be concerning for residents, families, staff, and the wider community. The safety, wellbeing and dignity of residents remain our highest priority.

Since concerns were identified, Shropshire Council has been working closely with the provider, the Care Quality Commission and health partners to monitor the service and support improvements. Enhanced monitoring arrangements remain in place, and we continue to maintain regular communication with the CQC regarding progress at the home.

Ruth Houghton, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for social care, said:

“The findings published by the CQC are concerning and I understand that residents, families and members of the local community will be worried by what they have read.

“I want to reassure people that Shropshire Council has been proactively working with the provider, the Care Quality Commission, and our health partners throughout this period. We have robust monitoring arrangements in place and remain in close communication with the CQC regarding the progress being made at the service.

“Since the inspection took place in June, we have seen significant improvements being implemented by the provider in response to the concerns that were identified, and we will continue to monitor these closely to ensure those improvements are sustained over the longer term.

“Our priority is to ensure residents receive safe, effective, and compassionate care. We will continue to work constructively with all partners, whilst maintaining appropriate oversight, to support continued improvement and safeguard the wellbeing of residents.”

The council will continue to work closely with Danesford Grange, the CQC and other partners as the regulatory process progresses. Residents and families can be assured that the council is actively monitoring the position and will take any appropriate action necessary to support the safety and wellbeing of people living at the home.
