Three Multihogs to tackle potholes across Shropshire in September

A Multihog in action

Shropshire Council’s Multihog road planer machines will be tackling more potholes on the county’s roads in September [2026], with an additional – third – Multihog team also hitting the roads.

The Multevo Multihog planes off the road surface to enable a squared-off hole to be filled by a following gang. It’s quicker than having to saw-cut and break-out the defective road by hand – tackling potholes and other defects more quickly and effectively.

In September the three Multihogs and their crews are set to treat the following roads. Work is carried out on weekdays only, between 9.30am and 4pm, except where stated.

Multihog 1

  • Tuesday 1 September – Station Road, Shrewsbury (9.30am to 2.30pm)
  • Thursday 3 September – A442 Radmoor crossroads to A53 Espley roundabout (Section 1 and 2)
  • Tuesday 8 September – Roman Road, Wistanstow (9.30am to 2.45pm)
  • Monday 14 September – From A49 junction Bayston Hill to Condover Church Street junction, Shrewsbury (9.30am – 2.45pm)

Multihog 2

  • Tuesday 8 September- B4371, former Bridgnorth district council boundary to Bourton junction Presthope (section 1) and B4371, Wall Under Heywood Darby Lane to former South Shropshire district boundary Easthope (section 2)
  • Thursday 24 September – Track To east of poultry houses to Stanwardine Lane junction (section 1) and Blackbow Hill, Ruyton XI Towns (section 2) (9.30am to 2.45pm)

 Multihog 3

  • Monday 7 September – Chain Lane junction to start of Trefonen road, Oswestry (9.30am to 2.45pm)
  • Wednesday 9 September – Deepdale Cottages junction B4176 to The Walls Hilton, Bridgnorth
  • Monday 14 September – St Martins Road B5069 junction to B5070 junction, St Martins

Each Multihog can treat 9,000m² of road each month, reduces the likelihood of potholes forming in the short-to-medium term, and cuts down on the need for road closures.
