Green Libraries Week

Join Shropshire Libraries in celebrating Green Libraries Week (October 27 to 3 November) at a library near you.

Libraries are well placed as trusted safe places to wave the green flag for sustainability. Join in one of the extra events being held across the county to help encourage everyone to play their part in saving our planet.

The events being held across the county range from Master Composters Pop-up, Marches Energy Trust Drop in, Carbon Workshop, Old to New Furniture, a Bulb give-away to various Green Libraries Week crafts such as Paper Hedgehogs, Lollipop Ghosts and Yarn Craft Flowers. Visit Library events | Shropshire Council to search what is available at your local branch or further afield.

Cllr Jeremy Blandford, deputy portfolio holder housing and leisure, said:

Shropshire Council is proud to support Green Libraries Week, recognising the vital role our libraries play in promoting sustainability and community engagement.

By hosting a diverse range of events—from composting workshops to creative eco-crafts—we’re encouraging residents across the county to take practical steps towards a greener future.

This initiative reflects our ongoing commitment to environmental responsibility and partnership with local organisations to spread the sustainability message.

If your organisation would like to work with us to help spread the sustainability message please either contact your local library or email libraries@shropshire.gov.uk
