Remembrance Day commemoration held at Shropshire Council
Council staff and councillors gathered in the centre quadrangle at Shirehall, Shrewsbury, at 11am today (Friday 11 November 2011) to remember those who lost their lives in the service of their country.
In particular they commemorated local government staff who died during the two World Wars. Councillor David Lloyd MBE, the vice chairman of the council, laid a wreath on the memorial stones which commemorate them.
After the two minutes’ silence, prayers of remembrance were led by the Reverend Mark Thomas, the Vicar of St Chad’s Church in Shrewsbury. The Act of Homage was read by the council’s vice chairman.
