The A495 over Rhyd Meredith Bridge near Llanymynech will be closed to vehicular traffic on 16 September [2022] when an inspection of the bridge is carried out.

The closure will be between 9.30am and 4pm.

The inspection requires access equipment to be positioned on the road and, due to the narrow nature of the bridge, this can’t be done without closing the bridge to traffic.

When the road is closed, traffic will be diverted along the A495, A483, B4398, B4393 and A494 by a signed diversion.

Access over the bridge for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will remain available throughout the inspection and access to properties will be maintained up to the bridge closure.

The road closure with be undertaken by Shropshire Council’s maintenance contractor Kier, and the inspection by the council’s consultant WSP.

The inspection is expected to take one day.

Rhyd Meredith Bridge carries the A495 over the River Vyrnwy.
