Shropshire Archives features in national magazine
This month Shropshire Council’s Shropshire Archives is featured in Britain’s best-selling family history magazine, the BBC’s ‘Who do you think you are?’ magazine.
Based at Castle Gates, Shrewsbury, Shropshire Archives holds the most significant collection of family history material for Shropshire.
The July 2011 edition of the magazine includes a feature article highlighting the key Shropshire family resources held by Shropshire Archives, as well as top tips on how to make the best of them.
In addition, the cover CD ‘Shropshire Ancestors’ includes over 30 important documents and photographs to help with Shropshire family research from Shropshire Archives.
Shropshire Council Cabinet member Mike Owen said:-
“For anyone researching Shropshire ancestors, Shropshire Archives is an essential service. This national publicity highlights the wonderful resources we have in Shropshire for those wishing to trace their Shropshire ancestors. Among the nine kilometres of records held by Shropshire Archives are a huge range of records covering a thousand years of Shropshire’s history. Customers visiting the service can expect support from knowledgeable staff and volunteers who can help them with their research.”
Shropshire Archives is open to the public Wednesdays to Saturdays.
