More than 70 children and young people enjoyed a range of activities at Rhyn Park School and Performing Arts College in St Martin’s during the half term holiday.

Students from schools in the Oswestry area were invited to two free fun days at the secondary school on Tuesday 31 May and Wednesday 1 June.

Football, dodgeball, cheerleading, roller skating and rugby were among the activities on offer during the events organised by Shropshire Council’s leisure services. The Reccy Rangers were also on hand with their play van to provide a wide range of play activities.

Councillor Steve Charmley, Shropshire Council Cabinet member for active and healthy lifestyles, said:

“Rhyn Park School’s arts centre, dance and sports facilities are used by the local community and these fun days provided another opportunity for the community to make the most of the facilities available.”

Steve Davenport, Shropshire councillor for St Martin’s said:

“The event was well supported by all the schools in the area. The children and young people had a great time trying out a range of activities and we hope to hold more events like this in the future.”

Pupils from Rhyn Park School and the primary schools in Ifton Heath, Gobowen, Weston Rhyn and Selattyn were invited to go along to the fun days.
