Shropshire 360 Live is a week-long campaign, which started on Monday 13 June, to demonstrate the breadth of services we provide, using social media channels, primarily Twitter and Facebook.

Have a look at the Facebook page to see what’s going on, and get involved by making comments.

Each day, different services will be “tweeting” what they’re up to – from trading standards officers checking the welfare of animals at Ludlow Livestock Market on Monday, to volunteers at the Shropshire Olympian Festival on Saturday and Sunday.

Councillor Martin Taylor-Smith, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for IT, said:

“We’re very keen to communicate with people in any way we can, and the huge boom in social media gives us a great opportunity to talk to people in a new way.  This is the first time we’ve tried using Twitter and Facebook on this scale, and it will be interesting to see how it goes.

“Shropshire 360 Live is a cost-effective way of talking with residents, using existing, free, social media channels of communication.  It will be a two-way thing, and we will respond to comments as each day progresses – it isn’t just about us telling the world what we’re doing.”

Council leader, Keith Barrow, added:

“A number of councillors now use Twitter, and I think it’s a great way of communicating with our residents.  The whole point of this project is to show people what the council does so we can have meaningful discussions in the future about how things will be changing.  If it’s successful, we will be using these kinds of communications channels more and more in the future.”

If you use Twitter, get involved by adding the hashtag – #Shrop360 – to any council-related tweets during the week.  If you are not a Twitter user, you can still see what’s going on by searching for #Shrop360 on Twitter.
