Mysteries of “Shakespeare’s Will” revealed at Severn Valley Country Park
In this, the 400th year since Shakespeare’s death, Rain or Shine Theatre Company presents “Shakespeare’s Will”; the play will be held in the visitor centre at Severn Valley Country Park on Saturday 2 April 2016, with doors at 6.45pm, performance at 7.30pm.
This historical play by Canadian writer Vern Thiessen touches on the little known life of William Shakespeare’s wife Anne Hathaway.
This story starts immediately after Will’s funeral, and Anne has been handed Shakespeare’s last will and testament, by one of her least favourite people, his sister Joan. Anne initially ignores the will itself, and instead spends an hour reminiscing about her life with (or, as it turns out, largely without) Will. After an hour she finally reads the will, and in it finds some quite unexpected surprises.
The play is a one-woman show performed by Sally Hyde Lomax. Sally has previously acted with Rain or Shine in the winter tour of 2010 as Mrs. Otis in Canterville Ghost. She is delighted to be returning to Rain or Shine and very pleased to be playing Anne Hathaway in Shakespeare’s Will.
It is a one act play lasting 70 minutes. The teashop will be open for refreshments before and after the performance. Adults £8, student £6. The play is suitable for age 14 upwards.
