Oak Farm gets a mention in popular Shropshire Magazine
A lovely village by the name of Ditton Priors in the south of Shropshire is home to a fantastic project that is about to celebrate its 25th anniversary.
Oak Farm, a day service that is currently managed by Shropshire Council, is working in conjunction with Ditton Priors Community Land Trust and looks to provide valuable skills and experience to adults with learning disabilities.
Those who frequent Oak Farm however, may well be feeling the effects of stardom. Shropshire Magazine, a monthly lifestyle publication, has highlighted the fantastic work the scheme is doing in a great article published in its July edition.
The article emphasises how much the people who use the service enjoy their time on the farms with their time being spent looking after a variety of farm animals including 150 hens.
Oak Farm prides itself on providing training and horticultural experience to adults with disabilities and it not only produces the finest fruit and veg, it has also won awards for its blackcurrant jam!
Lee Chapman, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for adult services, said:
“Shropshire Magazine’s article just draws attention to an initiative that has been doing wonderful work for 25 years. We remain dedicated to offering support to the project and we are delighted Shropshire Magazine is so impressed with what is being provided by Shropshire Council and the Community Land Trust.”
Stuart Toulson, Oak Farm’s manager, added:
“We are really grateful to the Shropshire Magazine for showcasing the plethora of skills that people have developed and how they are all involved with every aspect of Oak Farm.”
