People2People winter ball raises vital funds

People2People, a not-for-profit independent social work practice working with Shropshire Council to provide adult social care support to older people and those with disabilities living in the Shrewsbury area, held their second Winter Ball in November 2013.

The ball raised vital funds to provide peer support sessions and carers groups, using the knowledge of volunteers who themselves have been in a similar situation or have been a carer, or currently are a carer. This means that clients can be provided with firsthand advice, and share ideas and information that may not be accessible without this resource.

The night was a huge success, and guests enjoyed a three-course meal at Shrewsbury Town Football Club, followed by a DJ and lots of dancing. A raffle was drawn on the night, with a plethora of prizes including a spa day for two at Albrighton Hall as an amazing first prize, as well as a fun game of Irish bingo with a cash prize of £300.

The total amount raised from the event was £1,795, and this money will be used to recruit and train even more volunteers to enable People2People to extend the reach of these groups to areas across Shrewsbury and south Shropshire.
