Exciting new race planned at Severn Valley Country Park
Entries have now opened for a fantastic new running event that is being held at Severn Valley Country Park this summer. On Sunday 16 June 2013, Shropshire Council’s outdoor recreation service will be holding the first Severn Valley Trail Race, starting from the Visitor Centre in Alveley near Bridgnorth.
This will be a 5k multi-terrain run through wonderful scenery. There will be sections through woodlands, meadows and along the banks of the River Severn. There will be some steep climbs and some muddy sections. Entry cost is £7 per person before Wednesday 12 June, or £8 on the day (if there are places left). Prizes for the winners in each age category.
The event is kindly sponsored by Highley Manuscript Pen Company and Wenlock Water. For more details or to request a registration form, please ring the park on 01746 781192. Forms are also available for collection from the Shropshire Council offices at Westgate in Bridgnorth.
Edward Andrews, parks and countryside sites officer, said:
‘This will be a fantastic race and the whole route will be off road. I would encourage people to bring all the family down to the park. People who are not running can enjoy a coffee and a slice of cake in the tearoom, or take the children on our natural play area. Sign up early to avoid disappointment.”
