Closure of St Julian’s Friars in Shrewsbury starting Sunday 17 March

Following the opening of the St Julian’s Friars development new access roads in Shrewsbury, St Julian’s Friars will be closed to traffic at its junction with Wyle Cop from Sunday 17 March 2013.

All vehicle access to St Julian’s Friars residential properties and businesses will be gained from Williams Way, the new road off Town Walls next to the BT building.

This closure is part of an on-going experimental traffic scheme, where the direction of one-way traffic flow on Williams Way and St Julian’s Crescent is in an anti-clockwise direction from Town Walls to the junction at English Bridge.  A decision is due to be made over the permanent direction of flow in summer 2013, and after this time further details of the proposed St Julian’s Friars Enhancement Scheme will be announced.

On Sunday 17 March bollards will be placed at the end of St Julian’s Friars, and clear signs will be provided to direct drivers to the new route.
