Bishop’s Castle Business Park is being officially relaunched today (Tuesday 5 March 2013) as part of a drive to encourage small and medium-sized business to move to the town.

Over the past year a steering group of local parish councillors, business people, and members of the local community, led by local Shropshire Councillor Charlotte Barnes, has been looking at the future of the site, after developers opted not to take up the option of a biomass plant at the site.

The business park already hosts a number of businesses, including a building supplies firm, a vet, and a hamper distributer, and now new firms are being urged to join them.

As part of the park’s relaunch, a new sign has been erected at the site, and a new marketing pack has been produced to help promote the site to potential tenants.

Charlotte Barnes said:

“The business park is an essential area of land that has seen significant growth over the past few years.  Hopefully, with the new marketing pack, refreshed signage and better promotion, people will see the park as an ideal place to expand or locate their businesses. Nothing stays quiet for long in Bishop’s Castle, and I have been told enquiries for plots have already been made in the past week.”

Mike Owen, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for economic growth and prosperity, said:

“Supporting and revitalising our market towns is one of the council’s top priorities.  Bishop’s Castle has a wide range of successful businesses, and we hope many more will soon be tempted to join them and provide a welcome boost to the town’s economy.”

Plots are available for development and range from between .0.25 acres to 4 acres. Development is available for both light industrial units and larger units, offices and warehouses.  If another service is required, planning for a change of use would need to be sought.  Plots come with long term leases, subject to an initial premium.

Businesses interested in moving to the site will be supported through the process by dedicated officers at Enterprise South West Shropshire and Shropshire Council, who can provide details of grants, business support and local information.
