Greenacres Farm adds a unique sparkle to Christmas shopping
A range of one-off Christmas decorations and gifts with a difference are available at Greenacres Farm this festive season.
Shoppers are urged to head to the farm in Baschurch to choose from Christmas trees, handmade wreaths, table decorations, jams, pickles and chutneys, on sale from Friday 7 December 2012 to Friday 21 December inclusive.
Greenacres Farm is a 16-acre smallholding, run by Shropshire Council, providing employment and work experience for adults with learning disabilities. All profits made by Greenacres are reinvested into the farm.
Visitors can enjoy the yuletide shopping experience at Greenacres from 9am to 4pm, Monday to Friday, and on Saturdays and Sundays from 10am to 3pm.
A Christmas Extravaganza will add extra sparkle to the festivities on Thursday 20 December between 10.30am and 3pm. Shoppers can treat themselves to mince pies and hot punch, and DJ Santa will entertain visitors from 12.30pm.
Steve Charmley, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member responsible for disability, said:
“A visit to Greenacres is a real festive treat. We would urge people to head to the farm to meet the staff, have fun, and find some unique presents and touches for the home this Christmas. I know our dedicated team at the farm will offer a warm welcome to all visitors.”
Aggie Caesar-Homden, local Shropshire Councillor for Ruyton and Baschurch, said:
“I hope that people will take the opportunity to visit the farm this December and see the fantastic work they do. As a local councillor, I am very proud of the achievements of Greenacres Farm, both with regards to increasing employment opportunities for adults with learning disabilities, and the brilliant contribution the farm makes to the local community and economy.”
