Shropshire Councillors and staff will gather in the centre quadrangle at Shirehall, Shrewsbury at 11am on Friday 9 November 2012 to remember those who lost their lives in the service of their country.

In particular they will be commemorating council staff who died during the two World Wars.  Councillor Malcolm Pate, the Chairman of the Council, will lay a wreath on the Memorial Stones which commemorate them.

The Last Post will be played by a bugler from the Royal Irish Regiment.

After the two minutes silence, prayers of remembrance will be led by Rev Mark Thomas, the Vicar of St Chad’s.  The Act of Homage will be read by the Chairman.

All councillors and staff will be invited to attend the service, or to observe two minutes silence at their workplace.

The Chairman will also be joined by a number of special guests including the Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Shropshire, Col Edmund Thewles OBE DL, Honorary Alderman of the County, and representatives from the Armed Forces and Royal British Legion.
