Rea Bridge to close for repairs

Rea Bridge, which carries the Minsterley to Brockton road over the Rea Brook, will be closed for repairs for up to two days starting on Monday 26 November 2012.  The road will only be closed during the working day from 9am until 3.30pm.

The proposed work will include repairing the damaged roadside masonry parapet wall and repairing minor scour damage to the foundations of one of the bridge’s training walls.

Unfortunately, because of the narrow nature of the bridge, it will be necessary to temporarily close it to traffic to carry out the proposed work safely.

When the bridge is closed, it is proposed to divert traffic using the B4387 road from Minsterely to Winsley.

Access over the bridge for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will remain available throughout the proposed work.

Simon Jones, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member responsible for bridge maintenance, said:

“It is appreciated that the bridge closure will cause some inconvenience ,and everyone involved will do all that they reasonably can to reopen it as soon as possible.”
