The StrettonDale Local Joint Committee (LJC) will be welcoming the Leader of Shropshire Council, Keith Barrow, to their next meeting which takes place on Thursday 18 October 2012 at Picklescott Village Hall at 7pm.

Councillor Barrow will be attending the meeting to talk about the work of Shropshire Council and the changes Shropshire Council has made in response to the changing economic climate, and focus on localism by national government.

He will give a presentation and also spend time answering questions raised by members of the public at the meeting.

Tim Barker, chair of the Strettondale LJC, said:

“We are delighted to welcome the Leader of the Council to our meeting at Picklescott.  It is important that we are able to bring our meetings into the rural areas and give people the opportunity to hear about Shropshire Council’s plans for the future and to ask questions of the council leader.  The future will bring challenges for us as a council, and it is important we listen to people’s views and concerns so we can continue to provide them with the services they need.”

The meeting will also include an update on local policing issues from the Church Stretton local police team, and reports on news and events from the parishes that form the LJC. The committee will also consider funding applications that have been received since the last meeting, which includes a request to support the 2012 Church Stretton Christmas lights display.  Everyone is welcome to attend the meeting and to take part in the discussions.
