There will be an iTea and Biscuits morning at St Martins Community Centre on Friday 21 September 2012 between 11am and midday.

The new facilities will offer IT learning opportunities for people of all ages and abilities.  The facility at St Martins is run by local volunteers who will be offering one-to-one support for beginners, as well as a range of workshops in digital photography, Internet shopping and jobhunting online.  Local residents are welcome to come along to the coffee morning and chat to volunteers about the sort of things they would like to learn.

The IT facilities at St Martins have been supported by Shropshire Council.

Gwilym Butler, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for flourishing Shropshire communities, said:

“We are very pleased to support the IT learning Project in St Martins.  The enthusiasm from local volunteers has been excellent and it will provide a valuable resource to those living in the local community.”

Sue Schofield from St Martins Community Centre said:

“As more services are accessible online, we hope local people of all ages and abilities will take the opportunity to come along and take advantage of the computer champions’ knowledge.”

Following the launch there will be two drop-in sessions a week.  Equipment is available to use, or learners can bring their own.  There is a suggested donation of £2 per session and refreshments will be available.  For more information please contact Sue on 01691 770204 or 01691 777710 or visit www.shropshirebroadplaces.org.uk.
