Make a Noise in Oswestry Library

Related topics: Community

Shropshire Council is encouraging people to visit Oswestry Library and discover what’s on offer for blind and partially-sighted people as part of the Royal National Institute for the Blind (RNIB)’s annual “Make a Noise in Libraries” campaign.

The special ‘make a noise’ event, to take place on Tuesday 12 June 2012 from 2pm until 4pm, will offer people the chance to find out all about talking and large print books, see a ‘penfriend’ demo (a device which gives audio-labelling for visually impaired people) and much more.

From 2pm until 3pm there will be an ‘unwind your mind’ session where people will be able to relax and listen in friendly company as library staff read aloud stories for adults.  The theme for this event is childhood favourites.  From 3pm until 4pm there will be a chance for people to talk to local history volunteers about researching local and family history and the free drop-in sessions on offer.

Councillor Steve Charmley, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member with responsibility for libraries, said:

“I’d like to encourage as many people as possible to come along and find out what Oswestry Library has to offer.”

Light refreshments will be available on the day.
