Horse Bridge near Minsterley to close for repair work

Horse Bridge – which carries the B4387 over the Rea Brook near Minsterley – will be closed for repairs from 1 to 25 September [2026].
The work will include repairs to the approach walls, repointing works to the structure and painting of the existing steel parapets.
Unfortunately, in order to carry out the proposed work safely it will be necessary to close the bridge to vehicular traffic. The closure will be in force 24/7.
When the road is closed, traffic will be diverted by a signed diversion route. For more information, please visit the One.Network website: https://one.network/?GB151925145.
Depending on their vehicle type, road users may be able to choose an alternative diversion route.
Access over the bridge for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will not be available throughout the works, access to frontages will be maintained up to the bridge closure.
The work will be carried out by Shropshire Council’s term maintenance contractor Kier, with supervision being provided by WSP on behalf of Shropshire Council.
To inform the public of the proposals, advance notice signs will be erected at the bridge and an information letter delivered to local properties.
