Fitz Bridge near Leaton to close for repairs

Fitz Bridge – which carries the C1061 between Forton Farm Junction and the B5067 Junction at Leaton, over the River Perry – will be closed from 18 August to 4 September [2026] for repair work.

The work includes taking down and rebuilding the upstream and downstream parapets.

To carry out the work safely it will be necessary to close the bridge to vehicular traffic. The closure will be in force 24/7.

Access over the bridge for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will remain available throughout the works, and access to frontages will be maintained up to the bridge closure.

The work will be carried out by Shropshire Council’s term maintenance contractor Kier, with supervision being provided by WSP on behalf of Shropshire Council.

Advance notice signs will be erected at the bridge and an information letter delivered to local properties.
