Bronygarth Bridge reopens following repair work
Bronygarth Bridge – near Weston Rhyn – will reopen to traffic from 4pm today [Friday 22 May 2026] following the completion of repair work.
The bridge was partially closed following Storm Bert in November 2024, which ultimately led to an emergency full closure. Investigations identified that the upstream headwall of a private culvert had become completely buried under approximately two metres of silt and stone debris. This obstruction forced water to bypass the culvert, flowing around the nearby property at Brookside Manor, through the garden, and over the road – leading to the partial collapse of the bridge parapet and retaining wall.
Repair work began on 1 October 2025 and has now been successfully completed.
