Lostford Lane near Market Drayton to close for bridge repairs

Part of Lostford Lane near Market Drayton will be closed from 2 to 10 March [2026] for repairs to Lostford No 2 Bridge.
The repairs will include kerbing works and the dismantling and reconstruction of the upstream parapet.
During the work the road will be closed to vehicles 24 hours a day to ensure the safety of the public and the workforce. Two-way traffic lights will also be in operation 24 hours a day at the junction of Lostford Lane.
When the bridge is closed, traffic will be diverted via local roads along a signed diversion route. Access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained.
The diversion plan can be viewed here.
We recognise that this work may cause disruption and we will make every effort to minimise its impact.
The work will be carried out by Shropshire Council’s contractor, Kier, with supervision provided by WSP on behalf of Shropshire Council.
To inform the public of the proposals, advance notice signs will be erected at the bridge, and information letters will be delivered to affected properties.
