All of the award-winning businesses at this year’s Shropshire Chamber Awards have received direct or indirect support from both Invest in Shropshire and the Marches Growth Hub Shropshire in recent years.

Invest in Shropshire and the Marches Growth Hub are part of the business growth & investment team at Shropshire Council.

Company of the Year 2023, Aico.

The team is responsible for providing business support, and actively promotes and encourages inward investment into the county by showcasing it as an attractive destination to live, work and invest.

Matt Potts, business growth and investment services manager attended the Business Awards and said: –

“The team supports all businesses, irrespective of their size.

“We have key account managers who work directly with the larger companies in the county, and the Marches Growth Hub Shropshire provides a range of support for small-to-medium-sized businesses and start-ups.

“It was really gratifying to see that we have engaged with all the award winners in some form at this year’s awards ceremony and provides us with a real sense of achievement to have played a small part in each of the business’s journeys.

“The support we offer ranges on what our businesses need, but essentially, we can provide a central point of contact between the Council and companies, and can signpost them into finding the support they need, whether that’s access to grants, support required from other Council teams, or help and assisting them with their growth strategies.

“For example, the Marches Growth Hub team offers advice and guidance across a range of business disciplines through 1-2-1 support with consultants, information about grants, networking opportunities, and events.

“All the support we provide is free of charge, and we are delighted to have been able to work with each of the award winners who have shown a determination to seek out every avenue of help available to help them succeed.

“We offer our sincere congratulations to all this year’s winners and look forward to working with them again in the future”.

The business growth and investment team helped administer over £164 million of grant funding to Shropshire businesses during the pandemic.

Councillor Ian Nellins, Shropshire Council’s deputy Leader, and Councillor Mark Jones, deputy Cabinet member for growth, regeneration and housing represented the Council at the awards.

Councillor Ian Nellins said: –

“The Shropshire Chamber Business Awards 2023 was an all-round brilliant event.

“We know how great our business community is across the county, but it is at events such as these awards where the room is full of complete excellence.

“It is really inspiring to hear the success stories that have happened this year, and I congratulate all the winners.

“It’s very encouraging to hear the news that all of these winners have worked with the Council’s business growth team to receive business support and guidance.”
