There is still time for eligible children to be registered for holiday fun on the Shropshire Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme over the Easter break.

Shropshire Council is working with local schools, voluntary and community organisations, and childcare providers, to run exciting holiday clubs this spring, and while there has been strong uptake of places, there are still some opportunities available in:

  • Bishop’s Castle
  • Bridgnorth and surrounding areas
  • Craven Arms
  • Ellesmere
  • Morda
  • Shrewsbury
  • Whitchurch

There are free places available for children and young people aged 4 to 16, who are eligible for benefits-related free school meals, and for those who have been referred onto HAF programme by a professional. Places are also available for Ukrainian families, currently staying in Shropshire.

The programme offers children and young people the opportunity to take part in a range of fun activities, including arts and crafts, multi sports and cooking. A free meal will be provided at all the sessions.

Kirstie Hurst-Knight, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for children and education, said:-

“Fantastic spring holiday opportunities are still available across Shropshire, as part of the Shropshire Holiday Activities and Food programme. Children and young people will have a chance to socialise with friends, take part in fun and engaging activities and receive a nutritious and delicious meal. I urge families to book whilst spaces are still available.”
