Carbon Literacy training, November 2022.

The programme, led by Business Net Zero’s sustainability consultants and trainers Sue Burnell and Kevin Oubridge, and in collaboration with the Marches Growth Hub Shropshire and CREST, is aimed at businesses who want to make a difference and start their sustainability journey.

Sue and Kevin specialise in supporting SMEs (small and medium enterprises), and delivered a one day workshop and two online sessions to help businesses reduce their carbon emissions and create a plan for long-term sustainability.

Emma Chapman, Marches Growth Hub Shropshire manager, shared more details about the training:-

“By working together to raise awareness of carbon literacy and climate change, we can support businesses to take actions that will build business resilience.

“When developing a sustainability plan businesses can benefit from improved efficiency, reducing waste, and ultimately making financial savings, so becoming carbon literate makes good business sense.

Maggie Fennel, green infrastructure specialist, attended the course and said:-

‘The carbon literacy workshop was an overview of carbon and general sustainability issues, presenting clear evidence and guidance on how to decide on most effective action points for individuals and businesses. Best takeaway for me was seeing the variety of different organisations participating at all levels, and the great engagement exercises and communication tips.”

Corinne Brown from Shrewsbury College Group said:-

“Huge shout out the Business Net Zero – we are over the moon to have now received our certificates for the assignment we completed following the carbon lLiteracy course we attended at the end of 2022!”
