Related topics: Highways, transport and environmental maintenance / Partner organisations

Rea Bridge – which carries the B4499 over Rea Brook along from Brockton B4386 junction to the Shrewsbury and Atcham boundary – will be closed for repair work from 20 February to 10 March 2023.

To carry out the work safely the closure will be in place for the duration of the work, and the road will be closed 24 hours a day.

During the closure fully signed diversions will be in place on the B4499 from Brockton (B4386 Junction) to the Shrewsbury district boundary (see map below).

The work will involve taking down and rebuilding the left end of the upstream and downstream parapets.

Access over the bridge for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will remain available throughout the work.

Every effort will be made to allow people to access their property or business as easily and safely as possible, should it be within the closure. Anyone who needs assistance is asked to speak to one of the on-site operatives.

School buses will be escorted through in the morning and the evening

T he work will be carried out by Shropshire Council’s term maintenance contractor Kier, with supervision being provided by WSP on behalf of Shropshire Council.

Inevitably there will be some disruption during these works, and people are thanked for their patience and understanding.
