Visitors can come and have a look round and meet the resident goats, pigs and chickens, sheep, guinea pigs and rabbits and get involved in activities at the farm’s open day, from 10am to 4pm.

Greenacres Farm is a 16 acre smallholding run by Shropshire Council and provides employment and work experience for adults with learning disabilities.

As well as meeting the animals, families can enjoy a range of fun activities including taking part in a Wood Workshop (£5) to make your own birdfeeder, (bring in a bottle or a teacup and saucer to make the bird feeder). Please book in advance on 01939 291109. You’ll also have the opportunity to use the farms bicycles and outside gym equipment.

The farm shop will be selling free range eggs, vegetables, jams, pickles and chutneys, all made from produce grown on the farm. Perennial garden plants, stepping stones and garden ornaments will be on sale.

Light refreshments will also be available.

Councillor Simon Jones, Shropshire Council’s cabinet member for adult social care, said:

“Greenacres Farm has undergone a great deal of investment over the past few years and has recently undergone further development which will greatly enhance our accommodation offer for people with learning disabilities.

“Our farm’s open days are a great opportunity for families and friends to come along, take a look round and meet the staff, have fun, and purchase some of the fantastic produce and products made at Greenacres.

“The open day has been extremely popular in previous years’ and I know our dedicated team at the farm will offer a warm welcome to all our visitors.”

“Do come along and pay us a visit. You’ll also have the opportunity to take in the beautiful scenery and local wildlife on the farm.”
