Shropshire Council is working with local schools, voluntary and community organisations, and childcare providers, to run an exciting holiday programme this Easter.

During 11-14 April and 19-22 April 2022, children and young people are invited to take part in a range of fun activities happening at over 55 venues across the county.

From sports, arts, cooking, forest schools and other fantastic opportunities, there is something on offer for everyone. Free nutritious meals will be provided at each session, as well as information on nutrition to benefit the whole family.

There are free places available on the programme for children and young people aged 4 to 16, who are eligible for benefits-related free school meals.

HAF vouchers and information flyers will start arriving at schools this week, and will be handed out to families who are eligible for free school meals.

To book onto activities please contact the holiday providers direct, using the contact details listed in the What’s on Guide, which can be found online here. Families will need to quote their voucher code.

Some of the holiday programmes also include spaces for children and young people who are not in receipt of free school meals.

Kirstie Hurst-Knight, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for children and education, said:-

“We welcomed news in November 2021 that the Government would continue this vital funding for a further three years. Support like this can make a huge difference and is a genuine lifeline for families who are struggling.

“There are over 4,000 places available for children and young people on our Easter programme, which follows a very successful first year of delivering HAF in Shropshire. During 2021 we worked with 68 organisations to run a fantastic programme of activity, which benefited 4,767 children and young people. We’re aiming to build on that this year and support as many families as possible.”
