Shropshire Council has been allocated just over £2million by the Government as part of a new Household Support Fund to help vulnerable people and families this winter. At least 50% of this must be used to support households with children. The funding must be spent by 31 March 2022.

3,600 low income households that are in receipt of Universal Credit (at a level that is below the threshold for free school meals or free prescriptions) and council tax support have today been sent letters advising them that they can apply for a one off payment of £115 to support them in meeting their food, energy and other essential costs this winter.

To receive this support residents will need to complete a short online application form to verify their identity and provide their bank details for payment. Each letter contains a unique identifier which needs to be provided to verify their application.  The form can be accessed at www.shropshire.gov.uk/hhsupportfundIf you have received a letter we urge you to complete the form as soon as possible to ensure you don’t miss out.

This one off payment forms part of a wider range of initiatives by Shropshire Council to help vulnerable people and families this winter.
