Heathton West Bridge, which carries a C classified road (Heathton from Claverley to Six Ashes) over Cut Throat Brook, is to be closed for eight days from Wednesday 18 August 2021 to carry out routine repair works.

The repair work will involve the installation of a positive drainage system, infilling of embankment erosion, and fencing works.

Due to the nature of the repair work a 24hr road closure will be required for the duration of the works. While the road is closed, traffic will be diverted via local roads by a signed diversion.

Access over the bridges for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will remain available throughout the works, and access to frontages will be maintained up to the bridge closure.

The works will be carried out by the council’s term maintenance contractor Kier, with supervision being provided by WSP on behalf of Shropshire Council.

Steve Charmley, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for physical infrastructure, highways and built housing, said:-

“Inevitably there will be some disruption during these works, for which we apologise in advance. Everyone involved will do all that they reasonably can to reopen the bridge as soon as possible.”

Elliott Lynch, local Shropshire Councillor for Alveley and Claverley, said:-

“I would encourage residents to pass these details on to those they know will be affected, and to also plan their journey to avoid disruption where possible.”
