New independent boutique opens in Shrewsbury’s Darwin Shopping Centre

A new women’s boutique is the latest store to open in The Collective independent traders’ gallery in Shrewsbury’s Darwin Shopping Centre.

Portofolio, owned and run by Georgia Bikakis, opened its doors on Monday (12 April 2021) and sells a selection of women’s clothes and accessories.

Since Portofolio officially began trading on 1 January this year, Georgia has been supported by Shrewsbury Shopping Centres and Buy-From Creative Agency to help create an online presence for her customers.

Now, she’s finally been able to open her doors and showcase her collection to new customers.

Home to 10 businesses, The Collective is a new specially-created shopping gallery for independent traders. It’s located on the ground floor of the Darwin Centre and opened in December 2020.

Kevin Lockwood, Shrewsbury shopping centres manager, said:

“The Collective is home to a brilliant collection of independent businesses. I’m delighted that it has now reopened as Lockdown measures are eased, and that a new, exciting addition has been added in the way of a women’s boutique. We wish Georgia every success and look forward to welcoming customers new and old to The Collective in the days and week ahead.”

Lindsey Rollings, business development director with Buy-From, said:

“Buy-From have arranged weekly training sessions on topics including social media, social e-commerce, branding and copywriting so that Portofolio could launch online whilst waiting for the physical store to launch.

“This has made such a difference for Georgia, as it means she has been able to continue to sell her products and increase awareness of her business during the Lockdown.”

“All I can say is that it has and still is a pleasure to work with people as creative as Buy-From. Since opening Portofolio they have always been there to offer help and support.”
