Businesses across Shropshire were today handed a further boost with the launch of a new round of discretionary grant funding.

Following the additional funding made available in the recent budget announcement a new round of DARG funding is available through Shropshire Council and we are accepting new applications from today.

DARG funding – or Discretionary Additional Restrictions Grants – are available on a first come first served basis and the scheme will remain open until Friday 30 April 2021 or only while we have funds available, which may result in an earlier closing date.

Business are being urged to apply as soon as possible as applications made after the closure date will not be considered.

A one-off grant of £2,500 is available for successful applicants.

This fund is open to businesses who are not able to access LRSG and Restart funding, and meet the following criteria:

  • Mandated to close by Government or,
  • Operate in the retail, hospitality and leisure sector and its supply chain (in commercial premises either with or without business rates liability or from home) or,
  • Operate businesses within the events sector (in commercial premises either with or without business rates liability or from home)

If you have already been awarded a grant in previous rounds of DARG and meet the criteria above you do not need to apply again – but there will be some further information that you will need to provide.

You will receive a verification and declaration email from businessgrants@shropshire.gov.uk to the email address that you applied with that you must complete in order to access the grant.

Please check your junk email or clutter for this email that will be sent on or after 19 April 2021 and make sure you respond and provide the further information Government have now asked for as soon as possible.
