Cadent Gas is to carry out work to replace a section of old cast iron main on Kingsland Road, Shrewsbury between Canonbury and Luciefelde Road.

The work is planned to take place from Monday 8 March 2021 for a period of four weeks.

Due to the road narrowing along the section where contractors will be excavating, a road closure will be required so that operatives can safely excavate, backfill and reinstate their works.

Traffic will be diverted via Longden Road, Roman Road and Kennedy Road by a signed diversion route, and access will be maintained to properties at all times.

The scheme will be carried out within two phases so that only a short section of road is closed at any time, with the aim to keep disruption to a minimum; with the traffic management measures reduced when possible and safe to do so.

Cadent Gas will have their customer liaison teams on site to notify affected residents and businesses, and advanced warning signs will be placed on site two weeks prior to work starting.

Shropshire Council’s inspection team will monitor works as they progress to ensure the contractors are working efficiently and to the agreed timescales.
