Severn Trent will be renewing a section of their water main on Copthorne Road, Shrewsbury – between Copthorne Park and Porthill Drive – from Monday 8 March 2021 for seven weeks.

The scheme is required as the existing water main has reached maximum capacity following the recent development which has taken place within the area.

A new reinforced main will be installed with increased capacity which will improve water supply for existing and new customers.

As operatives will be excavating within the road, temporary traffic lights will be required for the duration of the works, and a traffic management operative will be on site from 7.30am to 9.30am, and from 4pm to 6pm, to manually control the lights.

Residents and affected businesses will be notified about the works, and advance warning signs will be placed on site two weeks prior to the works staring.

Shropshire Council’s inspection team will monitor works as they progress to ensure the contractors are working efficiently and to the agreed timescales, as well as checking the flow of traffic and identify if there are any problems and address as required.

Residents, businesses and road users are thanked in advance for their patience and understanding while this important work is carried out.
