Dinham Bridge to be closed for routine inspection on Tuesday 20 October

Dinham Bridge will be closed on Tuesday 20 October 2020 from 9.30am to 4pm to enable a routine inspection of the bridge, which carries the road over the River Teme at Dinham.

While the road is closed, traffic will be diverted along Dinham, Lower Wood Road, Whitcliffe Road and the B4361 by a signed diversion.

Access over the bridge for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will remain available throughout the inspection, and access to frontages will be maintained up to the bridge closure.

Kier is the contractor carrying out the road closure, with the bridge inspection team being provided by WSP on behalf of Shropshire Council.

Steve Davenport, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for highways and transport, said:-

“Hopefully this inspection will be completed on time, if not before, and any inconvenience to local residents will be for as short a time as possible.”

Andy Boddington, local Shropshire Councillor for Ludlow North, said:-

“This is a routine inspection, but it is even more important this year. Dinham Bridge has taken a lot of extra traffic including HGVs over the last couple of months while King Street has been closed. It is important the structure is checked out to ensure the safety and future of one of Ludlow’s most important historic bridges.”
