Coronavirus: Free access to Ancestry Library and Find My Past

Related topics: Community / Coronavirus / Health / Leisure, culture and heritage

Ancestry Library and Find My Past are being made available free of charge for use at home while libraries in Shropshire are closed to reduce the spread of coronavirus.

These fantastic resources for family history research are usually only accessible for free from library branches; but for a limited time, special access has been set up to enable library members to use them from home in the e-library.

Library members can simply log into Shropshire Libraries Catalogue with their library card number and their pin number and start researching. For those who are not library members yet, it’s easy to join online for free.

Lezley Picton, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for culture, leisure, waste and communications said:

“Shropshire Libraries are working closely with partner organisations to expand their online services. It’s great to see companies pulling together to keep people motivated and making free access from home to otherwise paid-for online historical research materials. More resources will become available on the Shropshire Libraries website in coming days.”

For tips on research and guides to types of records visit Shropshire Archives and browse their collections pages to see what records they hold.
